ELECTROLYSIS

Electrolysis is performed by inserting a very fine, flexible needle into the hair follicle.  I apply a tiny amount of electrical current to destroy the lower part of the hair follicle, which gradually stops any more hairs growing from that particular follicle. There are a few methods that can be used, heat THERMOLSIS, a chemical reaction GALVANIC or both blended together known as BLEND.

Electrolysis is suitable for all clients, any skin tone and any hair colour. It can also deal with white, grey or non- pigmented hairs.

What areas can be treated?

Practically any area.

Most common areas are face, neck, nipples, abdomen, bikini line, fingers and toes.

Does it hurt?

It is not pain free, but it does vary from area to area and also on individuals pain threshold. It is a similar sensation to plucking the hairs. The hair growth does reduce throughout treatment, becoming finer, less pigmented and slower growth until the hair stops growing.  However, settings can be adjusted to make the treatment more tolerable, and of course there are the 3 methods. Each appointment can be adjusted if necessary.

After Care

Following electrolysis treatment, there can be some redness or slight swelling. Within 24 to 48 hours the skin should settle.

Occasionally tiny pinprick scabs may form, do not touch as they will naturally heal.

During the first 24 to 48 hours, please ensure you take the following precautions:

  • Avoid sunbathing or heat related treatments (sunbeds, hot baths/showers, saunas) and swimming.

  • Avoid applying makeup to the treated areas.

  • Avoid soaps, moisturisers, deodorants and creams on the treated areas, to avoid infection.

  • Avoid touching the treated area.

  • Avoid tight clothing over the treated area.

I can provide aftercare products which can be applied to the area regularly after treatment has taken place. You can find these below.
